New year new you
And for most people that involves some sort of restricted diet. I could whittle on for ages (And I still might) about how this isn’t going to work, why and how you can change that but il try to put it into a short (ish) post.
Did you know that on estimate 80%-95% of people who lose 10% or more of there body weight regain it and sometimes more, ending up larger than when they started it.
Why? Because its not sustainable. Its a “quick fix” that ends up not helping you at all in the long run. The diets are too restrictive, some crash diets are way too low in calories and the weight you lose isn’t fat, its muscle, water weight and can damage your heart, bones and joints. Not to mention your immune system and hormones. That’s why people are moody when on a diet. Crash diets don’t even mention exercise (which is so good for mental health aswell as physical health). Probably because your so hungry and weak you wouldn’t be able to take the stairs let alone lift a dumbbell. That’s not healthy at all!!
We gain weight through stress, not moving enough and ultimately going over our daily calorie limited, day in day out.
The less you weigh the less calories you need. The less you move the less calories you need.
So be in a calorie deficit is the key.
This isn’t needed through a hugely special low carb, no carb, high protein, no fat, high fat diet.
Just eat your calories and move more to create a deficit.
As soon as you restrict yourself of something (carbs, cake, fat etc) you will crave it. You will feel deprived and feel your on a diet. The word diet alone can start off feelings of hungry.
Embark on a healthy lifestyle. Commit to a healthy lifestyle. Can’t do that?
Your not ready to make a change! You need to be ready. You need to be ready to do it for you. No quick fixes this time, this shits for real. Your going to move more, download myfitnesspal and be a changed person, that still enjoys cakes and alcohol, but healthy balanced meals most days.
But this is it for life!
No quitting after a month, its not healthy January. It’s healthy you, forever!
This involves calorie tracking, you can eat your cake, just log it. You can have good days and a bad day. Just log it. Make sure it all evens out to be in a calorie deficit.
Your going to walk more, you don’t have to be a gym bunny, but it you fancy it, baby steps. Get a PT (my info is below) or get a friend to join. I’m not talking 5 days a week just yet if your not ready, you got a lot of time to lose that weight as its not going back on remember. This is no quick fix. This is not diet hard and gym 7 days a week for 4 weeks then quit material. Go once, don’t like it?! Fine. Find something else that makes you move more and burn calories. Walk, swim, dance. Whatever. Just do it consistently once, twice a week. Be more active than you are now. Then when your ready maybe some more, 3 times a week. Baby steps. Enjoy it. Find something your passionate about.
Lost a few lbs in a month, great. Over a year thats 24lbs. We are in this for the long haul.
Your not going to lose 8lb a week like you did on your juicing diet because we are eating!! We are making sure it’s a healthy lifestyle you can do day in day out, on holiday and in the festive season. We aren’t in this for the quick fixes. Your not putting this weight back on. We want to lose fat not muscle and water weight.
This is your life, your one and only body.
Treat it well and be healthy.
Don’t, well that’s up to you. No quick fix diets going to make you feel better about yourself next year if you regain the weight and more.
Changing YOUR behaviour now will. For life.
Please don’t be a January statistic.
Im here to help.
P.s the post was longer than I anticipated but i think you can tell I ran away with my passion about all this. I care. Sorry, Not sorry, for caring.
